Hot Rod Buzz...

American Speed Company and D. Mark Trostle are in the midst of another great success story. Capitalizing on 39 plus years of Detroit OEM experience balanced with years of hands on involvement, Mark and his teams have been busy creating a “buzz” in the personalized vehicle market. Combining experience and talent, American Speed has been delivering customers design and product development projects with OE-quality at a garage-based pricing structure. Capitalizing on the wealth of talent available in the Detroit area, teams have been gathered to generate solutions to client customer’s needs. Bringing artistic, computer and engineering design disciplines together, American Speed has been able to move quickly in developing themes that represent not only what the customer wants, but equally as important, what can be manufactured. 2010 Highlights

2010 Annual Open House - American Speed Company would like to thank all those that came out to the 3rd Annual American Speed Company Open House and Car Show. We had a beautiful 70 degree day that welcomed hot rodders from throughout the Midwest and beyond. Special thanks to returning customers and special guests that came as far as Alabama, Pennsylvania and throughout Canada.

The day featured a great display of cars from the local area with everything from original '32s - '34s, Shelby's, customs and even some modern power to round out the mix. The Vintage Air, Classic Instruments and Gardner Wescott giveaways were also a big hit while everyone chowed down on Dearborn Sausage's finest dogs and buns. We'd also like to thank Fox 2 Detroit for the great coverage of our Speed33 builds as well as promoting our Open House event. We're already talking about on-site coverage for next year's event.

Speaking of next year, mark your calendars now for Saturday May 21st, 2011. It seems a long time from now, but we know how time flies. See you then!

Another Speed33 beauty

American Speed Company debuts the latest Speed33 - This two-tone Speed33 represents a classic mix of traditional styling with modern power and reliability. The full build was managed by the American Speed Company team for an out of state customer, and was completely designed, built, tested and shipped before the customer saw the vehicle in person.

Making its debut at the 2010 Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona, this Roush 427 ISR powered roadster will turn just as many heads as it does its Billet Specialties wheels on Kugel IRS. American Speed organized the entire build, and did all the upholstery, wiring and more on the vehicle. The Bowler 4R70W was beefed up to handle the 553hp coming from the crank, yet the Roadster Shop chassis handles it nicely. Topping off the entire build were a number of American Speed products - the Speed33 body, 33 Grille, instrument cluster, and many more items.

More from the road...

Hot Rodder Jerry Cannon of Ramona, California won the Speed ’33 Roadster at the Goodguys 12th Southwest Nationals in Scottsdale, Arizona. Standing in for him at the giveaway ceremony was fellow Over the Hill Gang (San Diego Chapter) member Ralph Garcia. Cannon is currently in South America and wrote a note telling Garcia that he would be NOT reachable by phone in case he’d won. He’s gonna have a big surprise when he returns to the United States!

The lucky key that started the roadster’s potent Roush 402 small block turned out to be key #16 out of 25 finalists. Cannon qualified to win the car earlier this sprint at the Goodguys Del Mar Nationals. Both Phil and Jeremy Gerber of the Roadster Shop as well as American Speed’s Mark Trostle were on hand for the presentation which took place in front of a packed house!

Congratulations to Goodguys and all the suppliers and sponsors who made the Speed ’33 such a memorable giveaway car!
